GGZ Gaming Zone is an online gaming service as well as a framework for writing online games. The project was founded on January 10, 2000.[1] The project has several different libraries licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License.[2]d The latest stable release of GGZ Gaming Zone is 0.0.14.1 on February 17th, 2008.

The purpose of GGZ Gaming Zone is to provide the hosting and libraries for developers to easily develop online games.

These are called core clients. They're simply chat clients that have the ability to play games. There are several different kind of clients that used SDL, GTK+, or part of the KDE and Gnome environments.

GGZ Gaming Zone supported many card and board games, as well independent games that come from other game projects. Projects like GNOME Games and KDE Games also used the infrastructure.
