xjig is a 2D jigsaw puzzle game written in C by Helmut Hoenig. The latest version of the game is 2.4 released in 1996.

The game can take any image and cut it into jigsaw pieces.

The tiles are controlled using a pointing device; the view can be panned or zoomed using the keyboard.

  • Tiles are freely rotatable with intuitive pointer movement.
  • Tiles can be double-sided; then they can be flipped to their back (to mirror them). That is enabled by default.
  • Tiles can be shown as shaped windows on the desktop using the Shape-Extension of the X server.
